High Diversion Material Recovery Emerges

High density housing growth is rapidly expanding throughout the GTA. High Diversion material recovery offers an effective method of advancing the recovery of recyclable and organic materials and brings knowledge-based jobs to the community.

Diversion programs in general often suffer from poor participation, recovery and quality. Organics recovery is actually decreasing as the “ick” factor continues to discourage separation of food waste. Recyclable material that is collected in multi-residential buildings is of very poor quality. It is therefore difficult to process in conventional MRF’s and meeting recovery targets is largely unsuccessful. High density housing growth is rapidly expanding throughout the GTA. High Diversion material recovery offers an effective method of advancing the recovery of recyclable and organic materials and brings knowledge-based jobs to the community. High Diversion material recovery brings an environmental benefit superior to conventional disposal options including Energy from Waste (EFW).
